Suggested Correction to McCurdy Narrative

For Petheric McCurdy's immediate descendants, this McCurdy narrative is based on H. Percy Blanchard's book, "The Ancestral McCurdys," published in 1930. However, this lineage is considered incorrect by some.

Diane Macurdy, in correspondence to us on January 11, 2008, states that our McCurdy narrative is incorrect for the 9th and 10th generations.

According to Diane, the 9th generation should be Petheric's son, John, b. abt. 1700 in Co. Antrim, d. April 2, 1761 in Silver Springs, Cumberland Co., PA. (She states that another source gives John's birth year as 1675, which gives sufficient time for another generation.) John married first a Miss McQuillan, b. abt. 1700, d. abt. 1751 in Cumberland Co., PA. John then married Margaret Montgomery.

The 10th generation should be what our narrative defines as the 11th generation. Lt. John McCurdy, who married Mary Fox, was the son of John McCurdy and Miss McQuillan. Diane gives Lt. John's birthyear as anywhere from 1729 to 1735.
