This photograph was taken at the Sand Mountain, AL, home of Jake and Ida Williams.
In this photograph are Jake's mother, Elizabeth Ann (Whitmore) Williams,
and all of her living children: Viney, Mollie, Flora, Essie, and Jake. Viney's
daughter, Mollie, married Ida's brother, Jesse Hawes. Jake's sister, Mollie,
married another of Ida's brothers, John Hawes. Ida is holding her daughter Jessie.
Her son, Russell, is
at the right-hand end of the front row. Little Carine Wheeler, on the front row,
is peeking around checking on Veva Eaton. On the righthand end of the porch,
one of the kids is holding a toy horse. The photograph below gives the names of all the people in the photograph. |
